Belongings
“Belongings” gives the photographic evidence of carrying historical baggage we were born with. They move with us and are part of us although from time to time they might seem separable. We meant to carry them all along even though they sometimes drag us down.
In Turkey, the society itself is the biggest possession that haunts people down while they have to carry them throughout their lives. In this series, the artist documented the feeling of belonging to her society as an ‘outsider’ while her own ‘society’ is also outsider to its own country.
